We recommend placing your Wildgame trail camera 2-3 feet off the ground.
The coldest we’ve tested our game cameras is in the low teens; anything colder could freeze the batteries or cause them to lose charge faster. The highest temperature we’ve tested is 115 degrees.
Yes, Wildgame Innovations cameras are motion-activated to pick up any movement and can be used for residential or business surveillance. Our Lightsout™ models capture images and video without a visible flash, making them the best option for surveillance. However, make sure your camera is outdoors and not behind a glass window. Since the camera is triggered by heat and motion, it will not detect behind glass.
We test using Sandisk™ SD cards and have several models available for purchase on our website.
Our assortment of trail cameras turns over regularly, and our website typically only lists the models for the current calendar year. We also do not list any special makeups (SMUs) that we create for our retail partners. Please contact our customer service department for assistance locating information on your specific model if you don’t see it on our website.
No, this isn’t recommended. Your digital camera and trail cam could be on different formats. Connecting the two could might run the risk of losing images.
No, micro SD cards are not recommended. They could possibly lock up the camera or not take photos when used.
No, the camera has an internal battery that will keep all your chosen settings.
This usually means there is an issue with the SD card. Make sure you’re using the recommended card (Sandisk™), storage size and class listed in your camera user’s manual. Try formatting the card to FAT 32 format.
This means your SD card is locked. There is a white switch on the side of the SD card that needs to be flipped toward the brass connections.
There could be something too close to the camera when the flash is going off. Taking photos inside could also cause this issue. Many of our cameras come with Exposure Control so you can adjust the exposure (instructions provided in owner’s manuals). Some trail camera models also include Adaptive Illumination technology, which automatically adjusts the illumination to eliminate whitewash and improve clarity in low light. Look for these technology options when shopping for your next WGI trail camera.
Wildgame Innovations feeders accept most traditional feeding methods including corn, pellets, grain or soybean.
Deer are typically most active during dusk and dawn. At a minimum, set your feeder to go off two hours after sunset and two hours before dusk.
Pick a place where deer can easily browse and build regular hoof traffic. Make sure there’s enough space for the maximum feed range of your feeder to throw feed, clear of brush or obstructions. Ground should be solid and level so the feeder doesn’t sink.
You sure can. Based on the type of feed or attractant you choose, you’ll find everything – bears, hogs, turkeys, you name it – could be showing up to dinner.
We offer a wide selection of replacement parts, such as varmint cages, solar panels, batteries, spinner plates, motors and complete feeder kits. Visit our Feeder Accessories page to show our selection. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, call our customer service team.
Feeds are an important part of deer’s diet – contributing important nutrients like fat and protein that build bigger, stronger bucks. Whereas feeds are the meat and potatoes of feeding a herd, minerals are like multi-vitamins they take with breakfast. Important bone-building minerals like calcium and phosphorus are the reason bucks are able to grow big antlers once they reach maturity.
For best results, look for areas that already have active deer trails or corridors between food and bedding areas. But really, the great thing about attractants is that they can build traffic where you want it.
The short answer is: it depends. Here’s the longer answer.
The capacity of your feeder and your timer selections – how often and how long you’re running feed times – will impact the rate you go through feed. Find the right schedule that works for you, and adjust your refills accordingly. If you’re dumping feed directly on the ground, it will depend on the size of the bag you’re using. Most of our bags hold five pounds of feed, but we also have larger 15-pound bags that will last longer.
Minerals release slowly over time and can create an active mineral site for up to a year. For best results, we recommend replenishing minerals them every 45-60 days.
